Booking and delivery

Good to know before any session

Where is the studio?

Sessions take place by appointment in our private home studio in Flitwick, Bedfordshire (MK45). The full address and arrival instructions are shown after your booking is secured, rather than published publicly.

How does the booking fee work?

The booking fee shown with your package secures your chosen slot and forms part of the total package price. Your date is only confirmed after successful payment. The booking terms explain transfer, cancellation and refund conditions before you pay.

Can I pay the balance in instalments?

Yes. You can pay the booking fee first and make further balance payments from your client account. Any final payment deadline is shown with your booking and invoice.

How can I pay?

Secure card payments are processed by Stripe; the studio never stores your card number. Bank transfer can also be recorded by the studio when agreed.

How do I view and choose my photographs?

You receive a private, watermarked proof gallery in your client account. Favourite the photographs you want and submit your selection; the studio can then see exactly which files should be edited.

How long until I receive my images?

The delivery window is shown with your package and normally begins when you submit your image selection. Most galleries are completed within two to four weeks, but additional photographs or advanced creative edits may take longer.

Can I buy extra images or products?

Yes. Available image upgrades, prints and products are shown clearly with the service or discussed before editing. Nothing is added to your bill without approval.

Can I reschedule?

Use your client account to request a change as early as possible. Whether a booking fee can be transferred depends on the notice given and the booking terms accepted for that session.

Are my galleries private?

Yes. Client galleries require authorised access and are not indexed as public portfolio pages. Download permissions, expiry dates and selection limits are controlled per gallery.

Will my photographs be shared publicly?

Not automatically. Service delivery and marketing permission are separate. Photographs are only considered for the public portfolio or social media when the appropriate permission has been recorded.

How do I view and choose my photos?

You’ll receive a private, watermarked selection gallery to choose your favourites. Once edited, your final gallery is available to view and download (where included).

family

family questions

When is a baby ready for a sitter session?

When they can sit steadily without support and are not repeatedly toppling — often around six to nine months, but development matters more than the calendar.

Can we book a session for the whole family?

Yes. Tell us the number of adults and children, their ages and the relationships you most want photographed so we can plan the order and package accurately.

What should a family wear?

Choose coordinated tones rather than identical outfits. Solid colours, comfortable layers and simple textures work well; avoid prominent logos and competing patterns.

What if my child is shy or will not sit still?

That is normal. We allow time to explore and use play, movement and connection rather than requiring long periods of still posing.

Can we bring a favourite toy?

Yes. A clean comfort item can help a child settle and may become a meaningful part of the story. Bring one or two rather than a large bag of distractions.

Are milestone sessions baby-led?

Yes. We pause for feeds, changes and resets and only use poses your baby can safely support at their current stage.

How do we choose our final family photographs?

Your private proof gallery appears in the client portal. Choose the favourites included in your package and submit the selection before final retouching begins.

newborn

newborn questions

When is the best time for a newborn session?

The classic sleepy newborn window is around 7–14 days after birth. Babies often settle into curled poses more easily then, but it is a guide rather than an expiry date.

Is my baby safe during the session?

Your baby’s safety is our top priority. We are trained in safe newborn handling and posing, and any complex setups are done with the utmost care so your baby is comfortable and supported throughout.

Can you photograph a baby older than 14 days?

Absolutely. We adapt the session to your baby, using wrapped, awake and connection-led photographs where appropriate. Beautiful newborn portraits do not stop being possible on day fifteen.

When should I book my newborn session?

Book during pregnancy if possible. We reserve around your due date, then arrange the actual session once baby arrives. The booking calendar uses the due or birth date to suggest a helpful window.

How should I prepare my baby?

Feed shortly before arrival or plan to feed in the studio. Dress baby in something loose and easy to remove, and avoid tight socks or waistbands that leave temporary marks.

When should I book?

It’s best to book while you’re still pregnant. We reserve a window around your due date and adjust the exact date once your baby arrives.

What should I bring to a newborn session?

Bring feeding supplies, nappies, wipes, a dummy if used, spare clothes and any sentimental item you would like considered. We provide wraps, outfits, backdrops and studio props.

Is newborn posing safe?

Safety comes before a pose or photograph. Your baby is supported, watched and never forced into a position. Complex-looking images may be created as composites rather than by leaving a baby unsupported.

Do you provide outfits and props?

Yes. The studio has wraps, blankets, bonnets, headbands, outfits and soft props selected for newborn photography. You are welcome to bring a meaningful keepsake too.

How long does a newborn session take?

Allow roughly two to three-and-a-half hours depending on your package and baby. Feeding, changing, settling and safe transitions are deliberately included in that time.

What happens if my baby is unsettled?

We pause for feeding, winding, cuddling or changing whenever needed. If baby remains uncomfortable, we simplify the plan; no photograph is worth distressing them.

Can parents and siblings be photographed?

Yes, where included in your selected package or added in advance. Knowing sibling ages helps us plan the safest and least tiring order for family photographs.

Can I bring sentimental items?

Yes. Bring one or two small items and tell us their story. We will assess whether they can be used safely and suggest an alternative composition if they cannot support or touch baby directly.

Do you travel to clients’ homes?

Sessions are studio-only. The prepared Flitwick space gives us controlled warmth, safe props, professional lighting and all the equipment needed without repeatedly moving delicate kit.

cake smash

cake smash questions

When is the best age for a cake smash?

Usually 11–13 months, once baby sits independently. The session can be before the birthday if you want the finished photographs ready for invitations, decorations or gifts.

How far ahead should I book?

Allow at least three to four weeks for set planning and cake arrangements, plus the editing window if you need final images before a particular date.

What happens during a cake smash session?

Depending on the package, we begin with clean portraits or family photographs, move into the cake setup, and may finish with a small bubble-bath splash.

Do you provide the cake?

A standard cake can be arranged through a trusted baker when selected. Bespoke themes and allergy-aware recipes may cost more. You can also discuss bringing your own suitable cake.

What is a cake smash session?

A fun, memorable way to celebrate your baby’s first birthday — letting them explore, play and smash a cake while we capture every giggle. Our popular session includes three setups: bench/family, cake smash and bubble bath.

What if my child has an allergy?

Tell us about every allergy or intolerance before booking a cake. No cake is ordered until the ingredients and responsibility are clear; in some cases bringing a known-safe cake is the best option.

Can I choose the theme?

Yes. Choose a colour palette or simple theme and we will explain what is practical within your package. Timeless, uncluttered designs usually keep the attention on your child.

Is it messy?

Delightfully messy — without the stress for you. We prep the set with protective coverings, handle all clean-up, and provide wipes, towels and a changing area. Bring a spare outfit.

What if my baby does not like cake?

That is common. We move slowly, offer a wooden spoon or familiar snack and never force contact. Practising safe messy play with soft foods beforehand can make the texture less surprising.

What should I bring?

Bring nappies, wipes, a towel, spare clothes for baby and adults, favourite clean snacks and any small sentimental item agreed for the portrait setup.

Are outfits and decorations included?

The set and studio decorations are prepared for you. Clothing and the exact number of outfits depend on the package; we help you choose something that works with the theme.

Can parents or siblings be included?

Yes, where the package includes family portraits or an additional-person option has been agreed. Family photographs are normally completed before the cake appears.

How messy is it?

Delightfully messy. Protective studio preparation and the splash setup make clean-up manageable, but adults should still bring a change of top because icing travels surprisingly well.

maternity

maternity questions

When should I have my maternity session?

Most maternity sessions take place between 28 and 34 weeks, when the bump is well defined and movement is often still comfortable. Twins, medical advice or an earlier delivery plan may make an earlier session more suitable.

When should I book maternity photography?

The second trimester is a good time to reserve. It gives you more choice of dates and enough time to discuss wardrobe, family involvement and the style you prefer.

Where are maternity sessions held?

Maternity sessions take place in our private Flitwick studio. The controlled setting gives you privacy, wardrobe access and consistent lighting; we do not currently offer mobile sessions.

Can my partner join the maternity session?

Yes. Partner photographs are warmly encouraged. Tell us in advance so we can coordinate clothing and use the session time well.

Can my children or other relatives join?

Children or relatives can be included when your package allows or through the appropriate additional-family-member option. Let us know ages and group size before the session.

What should I wear for maternity photographs?

Fitted silhouettes show the bump clearly, while flowing gowns and draped fabrics create softer movement. We help you select colours and shapes that suit your style and chosen backdrop.

Do you provide maternity gowns?

Yes. The studio has a curated wardrobe of gowns, bodysuits, fabrics and accessories in varied shapes and tones. You may combine these with your own favourite outfit.

I have never posed before — will you guide me?

Yes. You receive simple guidance for hands, posture, expression and movement throughout. We adapt every pose to comfort and mobility rather than expecting you to copy a model.

What should I wear?

We recommend flowing dresses, fitted outfits to highlight your bump, or one of our elegant maternity gowns. We’ll help you choose outfits that match your style.

What is standard retouching?

Standard retouching balances colour and light and removes small temporary distractions while keeping skin and features natural and recognisable.

What is enhanced creative editing?

Enhanced editing covers time-intensive work such as complex composites, artistic fabric effects or substantial scene changes. The idea, price and timing are agreed before work begins.

christmas

christmas questions

When should I book a Christmas session?

As early as possible after dates are released. Weekend spaces are limited, and booking two to three months ahead leaves time for selection, editing, cards and gifts.

Where are Christmas sessions held?

In our private Flitwick studio. Seasonal sessions are studio-only and the full address is shared after the booking is secured.

What should we wear?

Coordinated solid colours and textures work well. Avoid large logos, clashing patterns and very fine stripes. Set colours are shared in advance to make choosing easier.

Are festive props and backdrops provided?

Yes. The selected festive set, professional lighting and appropriate studio props are prepared before you arrive.

How many people can attend?

The included group size is stated on each package. Additional relatives may be possible through an add-on if the set and session length can safely accommodate them.

Can we bring a pet?

Only by prior agreement. We need to consider the set, other sessions, children, cleaning and how the animal behaves around lights and unfamiliar equipment.

Can children change outfits?

Possibly, depending on package length and how settled the children are. For short mini sessions, one carefully chosen outfit usually gives the strongest result.

How quickly are Christmas images delivered?

Standard delivery is generally three to four weeks after you submit your selection. Priority editing may be offered when capacity allows.

Can I buy extra photographs?

Yes, when extra images are available. Current pricing is shown in the studio add-ons rather than hidden in the gallery.

Where are sessions held?

In our cosy home studio in Flitwick (MK45, Bedfordshire). The full address is sent in your booking confirmation email. Christmas sessions are studio-only.
